Can't outsmart your heart! I tried to start out very, very slowly in an effort to avoid ever having to walk to get my heart rate down. It worked! ... for the first couple miles ... then the law of averages (?) came into play (or is that my overall fitness) and moderated my overall average pace right back to where it's been of late.
