I roughed out a plan on the fly that I'd let the first mile be whatever pace my body chose. From there, I wanted the match the average pace of yesterday's run (8:42/mile) over the next 2 miles. I targeted Mile 4 to be faster than 8:42 by however slow than 8:42 Mile 1 was.
